Jeff, a partner of the Del Sorbo Group, has been managing client portfolios and counseling clients in meeting their long-term financial goals since 2007. An accountant by training, Jeff is methodical and careful by nature and this is reflected in his approach to investing. Jeff works closely with our ScotiaMcLeod partners to identify and develop estate planning solutions for the clients of the Del Sorbo Group and is often called upon in developing and evaluating tax-efficient investment strategies.

Jeff graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business. Prior to joining the Del Sorbo Group, he earned his Chartered Accountant designation while working for KPMG LLP. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst making him a valuable member of the Del Sorbo Group Investment Committee.

Babak Rafat is responsible for researching new ideas and monitoring existing holdings for the Del Sorbo Group. Along with the other members of the investment committee, he is responsible for setting our recommended list and model portfolios. Babak comes to the team from a bank-owned asset management firm where he took on increasingly senior roles over the past six years. In his most recent role as a Senior Analyst Babak covered the entire Canadian asset management industry, and through the national sales teams, worked with investment advisors across the country providing research ideas and asset allocation strategies.

Babak is a CFA charterholder and received his Bachelor of Commerce from the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University majoring in Finance with a minor in Economics and brings a unique insight to the role.

Melissa McTavish has been an integral part of the Del Sorbo Group since 1998. Melissa’s work reflects her devotion to the team and their clients. Nothing gets missed on her watch and executing right is extremely important to her.

As the Investment Associate on the team she is the Del Sorbo Group’s client service manger and trader. She has an extensive experience in trading all types of securities and is very knowledgeable with regards to regulatory and processing issues. She prides herself on providing an extremely high caliber of service to clients of the group. Melissa is also responsible for managing the team. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto.
